The Development-Environment Nexus: Policymaking in Context This theme combines the perspectives of themes "Environmental dynamics, natural resources and livelihoods" and "Knowledge, values and power in natural resource management" and focuses on the meso-level or regional scale because it is here where process, potentials and conflicts of overlapping ecological spaces and socio-economic and political spheres are manifested and articulated.
Research is mainly conducted in Southeast Asia at a conceptual and methodological level, and in Central Asia, East Africa and the Swiss Alps in a more applied perspective.
