| Research Theme Livelihoods and territory |
|
| Summary: |

source: IP LaSUR
This theme focuses on the dynamics of livelihood improvement and territorial transformations. The core research question is: How, in the context of globalised societies, do urban and rural livelihood strategies and their underlying logics impact on social and spatial transformations?
Two relations will be studied more explicitly:
a) Livelihoods and habitat: What do people need to secure their habitat and livelihood?
b) Livelihoods and borders: What are the socio-spatial effects of emerging bordered spaces? How do livelihood strategies counteract new forms of fragmentation, segregation and social exclusion?
